HEY SUBBIES 👋🏽

Everyone loves to talk about “growth hacks,” viral formulas, or some secret algorithm cheat code.

But truth is… audience growth isn’t about copying someone else’s playbook or obsessing over metrics you barely understand.

It’s about showing up as yourself consistently, intentionally, and with purpose.

Here’s what’s actually worked for me (and might work for you too if you apply them):

Over the next year, Roku predicts that 100% of the streaming audience will see ads. For growth marketers in 2026, CTV will remain an important “safe space” as AI creates widespread disruption in the search and social channels. Plus, easier access to self-serve CTV ad buying tools and targeting options will lead to a surge in locally-targeted streaming campaigns.

Read our guide to find out why growth marketers should make sure CTV is part of their 2026 media mix.

🚨 OKAY BACK TO TOPIC 🚨

1️⃣ Be human first, creator second

I talk like I’m chatting with a friend over coffee.

I don’t write to impress; I write to connect.

Posts about heartbreak, messy mornings, random dreams — these resonate because they’re real. People remember feelings, not perfect grammar or forced hooks.

________

2️⃣ Keep the formatting clean

Long blocks of text? Hard pass.

I break things into short lines.

I use bullet poins, symbols, and spacing so it feels like you’re scrolling through my thoughts in real time.

Readable content = shareable content.

________

3️⃣ Vulnerability is a superpower

You can talk about growth, healing, and confidence all you want — but if you don’t show the ugly sides (bad days, fears, insecurities), your audience won’t be able to fully relate to you.

Being open makes people trust you. It makes them feel seen too.

________

4️⃣ Engage like a human, not a bot

I don’t just reply with “thanks” or “🔥.”

I read comments, ask questions back, try to relate over shared opinions or experiences - connect.

Real conversations turn into powerful connections.

5️⃣ Drop bombs (the right way)

Short, punchy statements that stick with people.

The ones that make them stop scrolling and go: “Damn 🔥

But they aren’t always motivational or feel-good.

  • → Sometimes they’re tough truths.

  • → Sometimes they’re jokes.

  • → Sometimes they’re random questions.

Balance is key.

________

6️⃣ Play with different content types

Good mornings.

One-liner questions.

Vulnerable confessions.

Practical tips on X growth.

Tricks to personal branding.

Educational tutorials on AI.

Random funny stories.

I mix it all.

Why?

Because people aren’t one-dimensional, and neither should your content be.

7️⃣ Keep your circle intentional

I manually unfollow inactive accounts.

If they haven’t posted or I haven’t interacted with them in 3–6 months: unfollowed.

This keeps my feed aligned with my content type and ensures the algorithm works in my favor when it comes to showing my posts to other people.

________

8️⃣ Normalize unfollowing

X shouldn’t be a follow-for-follow game.

No one should have to follow you forever. No one owes you that.

If someone unfollows you, don’t lose sleep over it. Plenty of other "fish in the sea”

9️⃣ Never stop experimenting

  • → Try new content formats.

  • → Host Spaces.

  • → Launch a newsletter.

  • → Recycle old posts into new and improved ones.

The moment you stop experimenting, you stop growin.

________

1️⃣0️⃣ Value > Viral

Impressions don’t mean sh*t if no one engages with your posts.

Focus on creating conversations, not just collecting views.

Conversations → Connections → Community.

That’s the real growth loop.
