This isn’t about luck.
It’s about writing something people actually want to read, complete and come back to because it provided value.
So let’s talk about how to do that.

Quick Detour for my sponsors today: Whispr Flow
Check out what they are offering for my readers:
Ship the message as fast as you think
Founders spend too much time drafting the same kinds of messages. Wispr Flow turns spoken thinking into final-draft writing so you can record investor updates, product briefs, and run-of-the-mill status notes by voice. Use saved snippets for recurring intros, insert calendar links by voice, and keep comms consistent across the team. It preserves your tone, fixes punctuation, and formats lists so you send confident messages fast. Works on Mac, Windows, and iPhone. Try Wispr Flow for founders.
🚨 OKAY BACK TO TOPIC 🚨
A Great Article:
→ Would feel relatable
→ Gives people something useful
→ Keeps them reading without forcing them to
If your article feels honest, informative and intentional, people will read thru.
WHAT HELPS YOUR ARTICLE
1️⃣ Create an Eye-Catching Thumbnail
Your thumbnail is the first impression.
Think:
→ One clear focal point
→ Emotion over information
→ Something that matches the tone of what you wrote
If the image feels random or generic, people scroll past. They won’t even know what the article is about.
2️⃣ Write a Title That Relates or Educates (or Triggers)
A good hook:
→ Says something real
→ Names a feeling or addresses a problem
→ Makes the reader think “yeah… i need to read this”
Example:
↳ “This took me longer to understand than it should’ve.”
If it feels natural to say out loud, you’re on the right track.
3️⃣ Write From Experience
“Write your heart out” doesn’t mean oversharing.
It means:
→ Writing what you actually think
→ Sharing what you’ve learned
→ Letting your perspective come through
People don’t connect to perfection. They connect to honesty and connect over relatability whether to the topic or you.
4️⃣ Give Readers Something They Can Use
Every section should earn its place. Ask yourself:
→ What will someone walk away knowing?
→ What can they apply immediately?
→ What can I change with this in their understanding?
Good articles teach without preaching.
Use: ✓ examples ✓ frameworks ✓ lessons learned the hard way
Value builds trust too. So they’re more likely to come back and read your next one.
5️⃣ Address your readers directly
I always like to write like i’m speaking directly to the reader… notice how I’m doing it now?
You feel like i’m talking to you as opposed to you feeling like you’re just reading an article on ‘something’.
Keeps your audience engaged and feeling like their part of a convo or story.
6️⃣ Formatting Is Part of the Writing
If it’s hard to read, it won’t be read. Do this:
→ Short paragraphs
→ Clear section breaks
→ Bullet points where it helps
→ Enough space for each section to breathe
→ Let the readers’ eyes rest
→ Incorporate graphics or infographics
→ Mixed media - images, videos or audio embeds
People skim first. Good formatting invites them to read the whole thing.
7️⃣ Add a Call to Action at the end
Give your readers a reason to reply to you at the end of the article. Maybe a thought provoking question or ask them to share their opinions on what they just read.
