❓ Why Does Your Old Content Not Make You Cringe?
If you don’t hate your old work…
you’re probably not growing, learning or getting better.
Let’s talk about how you can leverage discomfort and how to use it to your advantage.

Quick Detour for my sponsors today: DEEL

🚨 OKAY BACK TO TOPIC 🚨
Mr. Beast’s Philosophy
MrBeast, literally the #1 content creator in the world openly says he can’t watch his old videos. When you cringe at past work, it means:
↳ Your standards have evolved
↳ You see things that can be improved
↳ Your skills, capabilities have gotten better
Being comfortable with your old content (or even your old self) would be a red flag. Because that would mean your skills haven’t grown to a point where you can detect flaws.
Creative Growth
That gap between:
who you were
and who you are now
…should feel awkward.
Top creators don’t hide this. They critique their past selves to see what they can learn and improve.
whats a thumbnail they could’ve created differently?
a transition in a video that could’ve been better?
should they have gone with a different font?
different camera angle?
different topic of focus?
That’s how you know you’re moving forward.
Why Six Months?
Six months is the sweet spot. Long enough for real skill growth. Short enough to remember what you were thinking.
ASK YOURSELF CHECKLIST
1️⃣ Are people paying more attention to my posts?
Not “was the hook good?” Ask instead:
☑ Did people stop scrolling immediately?
☑ Did they stay long enough to read the middle?
☑ Did the ending result in engagement?
If comments only reference the first line, you lost them.
If people quote the middle or ending, you won. Yes, they read it.
2️⃣ Did My Writing Style Get Stronger?
This isn’t about grammar. Ask:
☑ Is my voice recognizable without my name attached?
☑ Do people use my phrasing in replies?
☑ Are they responding thoughtfully or just agreeing?
When people start talking like you, your know your brand has become recognizable.
3️⃣ Do People Care More About Me or the Topic I cover?
This one matters more than any hook.
☑ Are people replying with personal stories?
☑ Are they referencing things I’ve said before?
☑ Are they defending me when I’m not in the room?
It’s not always about content performance. You need to see testimonies of the relationship you’re building with your audience.
4️⃣ Is This Driving the Result I Actually Want?
Every post should earn its keep.
Ask ‘Is my content…’:
☑ bringing people to my profile?
☑ causing people to follow, subscribe, DM, or bookmark?
☑ Did it move someone closer to my ecosystem?
☑ resulting in sales or bookings (if you are selling something)?
If it’s not showing any of those results, your ‘content’ sadly is just background noise to people. Something they are aware it exists, but not good enough to care about.
5️⃣ Is My Audience Becoming more Relevant?
This is huge and most creators miss it. Think:
☑ Are replies more thoughtful than 3 months ago?
☑ Are smarter / more aligned people finding me?
☑ Do I enjoy interacting with my own comments now?
☑ Are people finding value in what i’m posting?
☑ Is my content serving a purpose (any purpose) to the people reading or watching?
Growth without alignment is just going to result in you becoming irrelevant.
7️⃣ Am I Compounding?
The real gut check:
☑ Does each post build on the last?
☑ Or does every post start from zero?
Compounding content creates:
→ inside jokes
→ shared language
→ continuity
You become a character in people’s minds. Someone they can either look up to or chill with… or both. That’s how time spent per follower increases. Because people WANT TO talk to you.
