Interaction Mapping: How to Train the Algorithm On Who Your Audience Should Be

Most people think the algorithm chooses their audience.

True…. but it doesn’t have to be that way.

You can dictate your audience through your behavior.

Every reply you leave, every post you spend more than 10 seconds on, the bangers you engage with, every profile you click…

it’s all data the algo learns from (especially with it now being Grok powered)

Data that tells Grok:

“This is who I want to be seen by.”

If your reach feels random, inconsistent, or stuck in a dead corner of X…

your interaction map is the problem.

Let’s fix it 👇

Over the next year, Roku predicts that 100% of the streaming audience will see ads. For growth marketers in 2026, CTV will remain an important “safe space” as AI creates widespread disruption in the search and social channels. Plus, easier access to self-serve CTV ad buying tools and targeting options will lead to a surge in locally-targeted streaming campaigns.

Read our guide to find out why growth marketers should make sure CTV is part of their 2026 media mix.

WHAT YOUR BEHAVIOR MEANS

Here’s the simplest way to understand it:

X shows your content to people who behave like you.

• If you interact with low-quality accounts → you get low-quality distribution

• If you interact with inactive accounts → your content lands on inactive feeds

• If you only talk inside your tiny bubble → the algo thinks that’s your world

BUT….

• If you mix it up → your reach expands within the silos you engage with.

Grok isn’t guessing.

It’s mapping your social graph and grouping you with the people you consistently engage with.

That’s your interaction map.

Fix the map = fix your reach.

HOW TO TRAIN THE ALGO TO YOUR LIKING

______

1. Pick your “target niche cluster”

Choose the type of people you want your content to reach:

  • Creators

  • AI enthusiasts

  • Entrepreneurs

  • Fitness

  • Writing

  • Tech

  • Meme accounts

  • Motivational content

Whatever it is… Be intentional about it

_____

2. Engage ONLY inside that cluster for 72 hours

Yes, only.

For 3 days:

  • → reply to their posts

  • → reply to their commenters

  • → follow 2–3 of them

  • → comment on their audience’s posts

  • → like things inside their network

You’re teaching the algo:

“THIS is my community. This is what I want to be a part of”

_____

3. Stop engaging outside your desired map

This is where most creators mess up.

You can’t say you want engagement then keep engaging with:

  • dead accounts

  • low-quality posters

  • inactive mutuals

  • random viral bait

  • people far outside your niche

The algo doesn’t judge.

It just observes.

Your behavior is your criteria.

_____

4. Enter the “new circle” through their comment section

Scroll posts from accounts with 100K–1M+ followers in your target cluster.

Go into their comment section.

Find people with interesting replies.

→ reply to them

→ click their profiles

→ comment on their posts

This creates a clean interaction chain the algo can track.

You → them → their network.

That’s how you expand your audience without begging for attention.

_____

5. Post while your map is “hot”

After 2–3 days of clean, intentional interactions…

post banger content.

Your post gets tested inside your new map.

Not your old one.

That’s how you break into new communities, gain reach and receive engagement!

GROK PROMPT YOU CAN USE TO FIND THOSE ACCOUNTS:

You’re an X algorithm strategist.

Based on my niche: [insert niche or niches], give me:
• 10 X accounts I should interact with
• 10 X accounts I should stop engaging with
• the engagement pattern that will tell the algo who I want to be shown to

Keep it simple, blunt, and actionable.

Don’t let the algo decide your fate. Take control of who you get shown to.

Fix your behavior → Fix your map → Fix your reach.

See you on the next one.
