Nobody’s Coming to Your X Spaces; Why?
Let's fix it before you hit ‘Go Live’ again.
So…. You finally muster up the courage to host a Space.
You go live.
And then… *Crickets*.
A few polite listeners.
Dead air.
You wonder: “Was it the timing? The topic? Me? The Algo?”
No. it’s not about any of that.
It’s about what you did leading up to it.
And like most people, you’re are doing it all wrong.
Let’s break down your mistakes and fix em before you start the next one 👇🏽

Okay …let’s get into 👇🏽
1. You Picked a Weak Topic
Most people think they can wing it with “vibes.”
Nope. That’s how you end up with 3 confused speakers and zero replay value.
Instead, ask yourself:
➜ Does your topic solve a specific problem?
➜ Would it do well as a post?
➜ Is it on-brand or just random?
➜ Can someone join mid-way and still get value?
Also:
Keep a mental note of 2–3 sub-topics to reset the energy IF the convo dips. This gives you multiple lifelines.
2. You Didn’t Invite Anyone
Stop hoping for randoms to show up. That’s not a strategy.
Before going live:
➜ Secure 2 co-hosts
➜ Line up 3–4 speakers who can contribute to the topic
➜ Choose people who bring value, different POVs, or simply energy
More people on your panel = more reach.
Because their followers get notified too.
3. You Let It Die Mid-Stream
Long silences?
Speakers rambling?
You’re too “nice” to interrupt?
WRONG. Step in.
You’re not just hosting. You’re conducting.
A few ways to keep the pulse alive:
➤ Watch reactions in real time (are people laughing? disengaged?)
➤ Light fun banter snaps attention back
➤ Ask listeners to drop a comment in the “purple pill”
➤ Reset the room every 15–20 min with a mini recap or CTA (follow the hosts and cohosts / repost the space etc.)
You are the DJ. Don’t let the music stop.
4. You’re Scared of Being “Too Much”
Here’s a secret:
The best hosts aren’t loud or rude. But they’re intentional in what they say.
They know when to:
➤ Jump in
➤ Move on
➤ Spotlight someone else
➤ Cut someone off (kindly)
➤ End the room before it gets stale
Best spaces are where speakers or listeners walk away thinking “damn that was an awesome conversation”
And that comes from prep.
Which brings us to…
5. You Didn’t Prepare — At All
Minimum prep =
✔ Topic + 3 sub-topics
✔ Co-hosts confirmed
✔ Back channel comms with co-hosts to maintain vibes
✔ CTA or relevant posts pinned to the jumbotron
✔ 15-sec opening + closing script
A strong beginning and a strong ending can make a lasting impact.
Pro tip: Listen back to your replays.
The “cringe” is what makes you grow & get better for your next one.
BONUS: You Forgot to Follow Up
Your Space doesn’t end when the mic drops. Thank cohosts/ speakers in DMs to deepen your connections. This will also make them feel better about coming back next time 🧡
Here’s how to extend the impact:
➜ DM your co-hosts + speakers to thank them
➜ Post a takeaway tweet with clips or highlights
➜ Reply to purple pill comments
➜ Repurpose great quotes or funny moments as posts
➜ Watch your analytics: where did most people drop off?
Every Space is a seed. What you do after determines if your next one gets bigger.
Last Reminder: Nobody’s Coming… Until You Give Them a Reason
You don’t need 100s of listeners.
You need a good reason for 1 person to show up, stay and share.
That’s how it snowballs.
