How to Make Your Bio Stand Out
(Without Sounding Like Everyone Else) A short + powerful guide by Auny ♡
✨ WHY YOUR BIO MATTERS
Your bio is the front door to your world. You only get 160 characters — so every word counts.
Ask yourself: Does your bio make people stop and say “okay wait… who is this?” Or is it a forgettable string of words like everyone else’s?
You’re not here to blend in. You’re here to make people say “Damn I need to connect with this person.” And hit the FOLLOW button.
It starts with a bold, memorable first impression.
Let’s work on that together.
📌 8 Must-Know Bio Rules:
➊ Add a Sprinkle of YOU
↳ Personality is the only thing that makes you, you. Use it. Flex it. Make it obvious.
This is your first chance to stand out — don’t waste it trying to sound like a resume. Instead of writing: “Content Creator | Marketer | Coffee Addict” try: “I build brands that slap • also a lil too obsessed with matcha.”
Be the real you. Be specific. That’s what draws people in.
➋ Say What You Do (But Make It Interesting)
Anyone can say "Marketing Expert" — and everyone does.
Instead, frame it with personality: “I help small brands punch way above their weight.” “I teach founders how to go viral without selling their soul.”
What do you actually do for people? That’s what they care about.
➌ Show Off What You Love
Mention what you’re into — hobbies, fandoms, random obsessions. It creates relatability and signals who might vibe with you.
Are you into AI? Cat memes? Pineapples on pizza? Say it.
Let people see themselves in you — that’s how you build real connection.
➍ Use Short Sentences + Smart Separators
↳ Break things up with line breaks, separators, or emojis like: •
|
🧠
Here’s why: clean formatting = better readability.
And better readability = more people actually stick around to read it.
Visual structure is part of the follower conversion game.
➎ Don’t Overdo Emojis
Emojis are great... until they’re overwhelming.
They should complement your words — not replace them. Use 1–2 max. Let your tone and voice do the heavy lifting.
Clean bios = stronger impressions.
➏ Avoid Hashtags
You're not writing a tweet (you shouldn’t use hashtags in tweets anymore either; but more on that later). You're writing a mini billboard about you.
Hashtags in bios:
Don't help visibility
Waste precious space
Risk sending people away from your profile
If you're gonna use characters, use them wisely.
➐ Speak Human, Not Jargon
Avoid niche terms unless you explain them or know your entire audience is fluent in it.
↳ Example: “HODLer” makes sense in crypto. Not to everyone.
Ask yourself: could someone brand new to my space understand this? If not, simplify it.
Simple doesn’t mean dumb — it means clear and relatable.
➑ K.I.S.S = Keep It Simple Stupid
No one needs your life story or all 17 roles you play at work or the 27 skills you have.
This isn’t a résumé. It’s a hook.
→ To get people to follow. That’s your only objective.
Keep your bio focused on who you are right now and what you’re known for. Save the nuance for your posts and replies.

🔥 Pro Tip: Let Your Banner Do Some Extra Work
↳ Your banner is free visual real estate.
Use it to highlight:
A quote you live by
A project you’re building
A vibe you want to give off
Let your bio + banner work together.
Example combo:
Bio: “Building the next big thing in wellness tech 🧠 | Recovering perfectionist”
Banner: A sleek image with the words: “Habit. Energy. Focus. Start here.”
See how they support and compliment each other?
🎯 TLDR:
Your bio isn’t just text. It’s a first impression, an identity badge, a tiny little handshake, or that gentle “sup?” nod.
Make it count.
Make it unmistakably you.
🔦 Shine the spotlight on yourself.
Your mission, SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT:
