The Storm Knows ⛈️
Short story inspired by a dream....

Somewhere between nowhere and never, she stood at the edge of the world. A battered pickup behind her, engine still humming like a ghost refusing silence. The storm was already here — not approaching, not leaving — just breathing. Heavy and alive.
She didn’t flinch when the thunder cracked like the sky was breaking.
The road had ended hours ago. Maybe days. She‘d driven through shadows, through silence, through thoughts too loud to name. And now, at the top of this hill, it all paused.
Not peace. Not yet.
Just… pause.
Silence.
There were others in the distance. Shapes. Maybe people. Maybe memories. Fears. They didn’t move toward her, and she didn’t want them to.
The lightning split the sky open like truth tearing through an illusion.
And in that flash — brief and cruel — she saw the version of herself she had buried.
The one who didn’t know what happens next.
She didn’t cry. She didn’t scream.
She just watched. She wanted to let it take her.
But in that moment, the tormenting storm didn’t howl.
It bowed ⚡️
