someone blocked you. now you're wondering if your reach just took a hit 👀
here's what the open-source portion of 𝕏's algo actually does with a block, in simple words.

1. IT'S BETWEEN YOU TWO
a block is a two-way wall in the feed:
you disappear from their feed: your posts, quotes, reposts and replies
they disappear from yours too
a post that quotes or reposts the other person gets filtered out as well
that part is certain. it happens on every feed load, for both of you.
2. YOUR REACH
the block weight is -31.2.
but it doesn't get subtracted once per block. the weight multiplies a prediction: the chance that a viewer "like them" would block you. so 1 block mostly hides you from people who act like the blocker. not everyone.
for scale, here's where it sits next to the other negative signals:
block: -31.2
not interested: -43.2
mute: -58.8
report: -234
a block is the lightest of the four.
it also only counts if they blocked you from a post 𝕏 served them in their home timeline. if someone goes straight to your profile, or clicks a link from a group chat, it has no ranking impact. that's why mass-block campaigns don't work anymore.
(blocking from a space most likely doesn't count either, since a space isn't the home timeline.)
3. YOUR ACCOUNT
your blocks are counted as a blocks-per-like rate.
it's measured against your likes from people outside your followers, so 1 block barely does anything.
Example:
you pick up 300 likes from non-followers this period
1 person blocks you
your rate is roughly 1 in 300, and the code smooths small numbers so a single block can't swing it
mass blockers get filtered out too. 𝕏's abuse-mapping job disregards blocks from anyone who's blocked more than 49 accounts in the past year.
so you get blocked?
you lose 1 feed, theirs. they lose yours
your reach dips mainly with people who act like them
your account barely notices
tell them:
.....🖕🏽.....see ya never!
and move on because GOOD RIDDANCE. They weren't your type anyway!
