For the longest time, I told myself:
→ “If I just keep posting, people will see it.”
But my content felt… dead.
It didn’t have a soul because I was posting like a machine.
I wasn’t sharing me. Who I am….
I hid behind “safe” growth tips from some indy guru selling cohorts for $500 a pop. Engaged with them, joined their engagement groups because that’s what they told me to do.
I posted content they posted… the ones that are happy-go-lucky.
I left out the days where I was struggling, doubting myself or questioning if any of this was worth it because I didn’t see results.
Then I realized…
The algorithm wasn’t ignoring me.
People were.
Because no one connects with perfect. They connect with real.
Here’s What I Changed
Instead of writing like a strategist… I started writing like a person.
✦ Shared the late-night overthinking.
✦ Talked about my habits (good and bad).
✦ Wrote about small moments, not just big wins.
And when I started showing my vulnerabilities…
Comments doubled.
DMs blew up.
People stopped scrolling past my name.
They were able to connect with me because I stopped “lying”
…. to myself and to my audience.
Stopped hiding behind a happy facade and shared all my insecurities
Because everyone else has insecurities too and when you show yours, they don’t feel alone anymore.
How You Can Do It
Next time you draft a post:
→ Cut the “safe” first sentence. Start with the truth.
Example:
Instead of: “Consistency is the key to growth.”
Write: “I almost quit posting last week because nothing was working.”
One sparks connection. The other smells like AI generated motivational BS.
