Before your post even hits any timeline, your account already has a reputation (tweepcred on the X code) a quiet “score” that decides whether X should push your content…

or ignore it.

Creators who adapt to this, grow.

Creators who don’t stay stuck wondering why their posts die at 69 impressions.

Let’s break it down 👇

X doesn’t treat every account equally.

There’s a behind-the-scenes evaluation that happens before your post goes anywhere.

And yes… this is backed by the open-source algorithm you can read here.

The code includes things like:

→ IsOutOfNetworkColdStartPostFilter etc.

Don’t let the nerdy names scare you.

All they mean is:

X classifies your account as “high-signal” or “low-signal” before promoting your content.

If you barely interact, reply to no one, or only post into the void…

you get labeled low-signal.

Low-signal = low distribution.

No matter how good your content is.

This is why two creators can post the exact same quality and one blows up while the other gets ignored.

It’s not talent.

It’s the invisible score.

Here’s what X is quietly tracking in the background:

Your reply quality

Not the volume; the value add. Check out: How to leave quality replies

Engagement velocity

How quickly people interact with you.

Outbound interactions

Who you talk to (and whether they are quality accounts or spammers).

Your network graph

Are you interacting with real active accounts… or dead ones (the ones that don’t get engagement)?

Profile click potential

If people check you out, your score rises (because it signals you’re interesting)

How “useful” X thinks you are

If you add value in conversations (posts, comments or spaces), you’re rewarded.

If you’re posting away hoping for the algo to see you, you’ll be ignored.

This is all part of the “signal strength” the code refers to.

1. Warm up before you post

Spend 10 minutes engaging with active accounts.

This wakes up your ‘signals’ and you might even show up on their feed.

2. Comment Surf your way into the right circles

Show up in posts from accounts with 500K–1M+ followers.

Scroll their comments.

Find people saying interesting things.

Reply to them, click their profiles, interact with their posts.

This tells the algorithm:

“Hey, these people overlap. Show them each other’s content.”

That’s how you break into larger ecosystems (silos).

3. Avoid low-quality engagement

One-word replies and emoji spam drag your score down.

X wants to see that you think and have convos, not just react.

4. Quote post as little as possible

As much as you may think you’re helping their impressions, it’s harming you.

Try taking a screenshot of their post and voicing your opinions with good context instead.

You can always tag them in the photo or replies.

If you quote post without too much context, algo may deem it as ‘unoriginal’ content.

5. Do not post links.

Your account is already at the judge’s table.

Don’t make it worse. BTW.. hashtags are also useless now.
