Why Your Prompts aren't Working
Want Better Results? Try a Better Prompt. The secret sauce to getting your AI to do anything for you.
Fix your Prompts. Fix your AI.
Most people write prompts like this:
“Write me a thread about content.”
And then wonder why the AI gives them generic junk.
Let me show you how to actually structure prompts so you get the exact results you’re looking for.

BREAK UP YOUR PROMPT
Part 1. Set the Role
→ Tell the AI who it is.
↳ “You are a personal branding expert.”
Part 2. Define the Goal
→ Tell it exactly what you want it to do.
↳ “Help me clarify my brand voice and content pillars.”
Part 3. Give Context
→ Tell it who you are, what you care about, how you talk, who your audience is, etc.
I’m a social media consultant
I post on X and write a newsletter
My voice is bold, direct, a little funny
I want to grow authority and attract leads
4. Pick a Format
→ Tell it how to reply.
↳ “Give me a bullet list.” or “Write as a thread.”
5. Add Examples (optional, but powerful)
→ Show the AI what good looks like.
↳ “Make it sound like this thread by @examplehandle.”

I'm hiring you as a [ROLE].
Your job is to [GOAL].
Here’s the context:
• [insert details about you, your brand, your audience, etc.]
• [insert tone, writing style, or format preference]
Do not include [anything you don’t want].
Your output should be [bullet list / newsletter / table / etc.]
Example of what I like:
[insert link or reference]
What Not to Do:
❌ “Be creative” → it’s too vague
❌ No context → AI has to guess
❌ Asking for too much at once → split it up
❌ No format → output will be a mess
