X Algo Doesn’t Hate You.. You’re Just Failing the Audition

“My followers don’t even see my posts anymore 😩”

Yeah, and X just gave us the blueprint for why:

All content goes through a full-blown audition before it ever shows up on someone’s timeline.

Here's a breakdown of what determines whether your posts get shown to people - even your own followers.

(based on latest part of the code that was open sourced last night)

✅ Test 1: Are you even allowed in the room?

If your account has low tweepcred (aka reputation score)…

→ You’re automatically invisible.

New account starts at -128.
You don’t get seen until your rep hits positive.

Bad / Spammy / Bot like behavior = Negative imapct
Good / authentic behavior = Positive impact

✦ How to build reputation:

→ Do not reply or post like a bot
→ Post consistently, but not like a maniac
→ Avoid extermal links, hashtags or excessive tags
→ Avoid spammy tactics (follow/unfollow, link dumping, AI gibberish, etc.)

✅ Test 2: Does your content have depth?

Every post is scanned across 6,000+ signals 🤯

Some key ones:
→ Is your post relevant to the user?
→ Is it a video?
→ Is it clear + readable?
→ Is it original or recycled?
→ Are you a high-rep account?
→ Is there proof it’s good (likes, replies, bookmarks)?

→ Rethink your formatting
→ Post original takes, not AI copies
→ Encourage replies + bookmarks
→ Focus on clarity over cleverness
→ Use videos where it makes sense

✅ Test 3: Can your post survive the filters?

This is where 90% of people get wiped out.

The algo isn’t just ranking your posts; it’s evaluating your behavior.

Here’s the filter checklist:

Part 1: Behavioral Red Flags

• Posting too much too fast?
→ You’ll get throttled. The algo wants variety. It won’t show the same people on someone’s for you over and over.

• Annoying people?
→ If users mute/block you or hit “Not Interested,” it tanks your future reach.

Part 2: Quality Checks

• Triggering low-quality sensors?
→ ALL CAPS, no punctuation, repeated phrases, sloppy grammar = 🚫

• Posting external links?
→ X wants to keep people on-platform (on 𝕏). External links get deprioritized.

Part 3: Sensitive Filters

• Is your content NSFW or borderline?
→ Even if you don’t know it, you may trip wires. You’ll only be shown to people who don’t have that filter turned on.

• Recycled content?
→ If you keep reposting the same hook or format, you’ll get penalized.

⚔️ Final Battle: The Mixer

Even if you survive all 3 tests, you’re still fighting for space against:

→ Ads
→ Viral posts
→ Priority Accounts
→ Follow recommendations
→ UI tricks that boost “high signal” content

You’re not just being judged. You’re being outcompeted.

So what does get shown to poeple?

✓ Posts from people they’ve engaged with

✓ Content similar to their past interactions

✓ High-reputation accounts

✓ Videos people watch >10s of

✓ Posts that make people pause for more than 2s

✓ Posts similar to what they bookmarked/replied to in the past

Optimize your content according to this 👆🏽 (your audience interactions)

You’re not shadowbanned.

It’s just that content is oversaturated and the competition is steep.

Reach is earned, not guaranteed.
