COMMON MISTAKES YOU CAN FIX RIGHT NOW
Most people complain about reach not realizing some of the most common things they do, are unknowingly killing their reach.
I’ll break down 10 common habits (mistakes) right now…
If you avoid these for 2 weeks, I can guarantee you will see better reach!
Let’s get into it ⬇️

1. QUOTE POSTING TOO MUCH
Looks lazy. Doesn’t build your voice.
Signals to the algo you don’t have original content.
↳ Use quotes to add perspective. Only do it when you have something meaningful to share; usually an elaborate insight.
↳ If you HAVE TO quote post, it helps to screenshot the post you want to QP. You can always tag the person in the replies or photo. Otherwise, their handle shows on the photo anyway.
Just helps your account retain reach and seem original that way. Once you become a ‘larger’ account, you get more leeway with QP-ing.

Over the next year, Roku predicts that 100% of the streaming audience will see ads. For growth marketers in 2026, CTV will remain an important “safe space” as AI creates widespread disruption in the search and social channels. Plus, easier access to self-serve CTV ad buying tools and targeting options will lead to a surge in locally-targeted streaming campaigns.
Read our guide to find out why growth marketers should make sure CTV is part of their 2026 media mix.

2. REPOSTING TOO MUCH
This is especially bad when you’re new or small. the algo is already trying to place you and verify you as a person.
Constantly reposting makes your account look automated, spammy and algo sees you as a bot since that’s what most bot accounts do.
↳ Instead of reposting, post original content. Even one liner thoughts are better than reposts.
3. USING HASHTAGS
Elon has said it multiple times that hashtags don’t serve a purpose in the algorithm anymore. Grok powered algo is able to match you with people who use the same words you use WITHOUT needing it to be a hashtag.

↳ Integrate the words you would hashtag within your post. Remove them from bio too
4. NO CLEAR NICHE
When your content is all over the place, the algo doesn’t know who to show you to.
This doesn’t mean you need to only post within your niche (even I don’t). But…
↳ Make sure you post about the topic you WANT to be known for at least once or twice a day.
This way, the algo knows the base audience you should have and you start to build an account reputation within that niche. Your normal posts get shown to your general community as you grow your presence.
5. POSTING STATEMENTS
sentences ≠ conversation
Post in a way that invites a conversation. The more convos you have in your comments section, better visibility you will get in the algorithm.
↳ Give people a reason to reply. Read this:

Meet Skej — your new scheduling assistant. Whether it’s a coffee intro, a client check-in, or a last-minute reschedule, Skej is on it. Just CC Skej on your emails, and it takes care of everything: checking calendars, suggesting times, and sending out invites.
6. TAGGING TOO MANY PEOPLE
Tagging more than 1 account can throttle your post and the more you do it, more risk you run in getting fully throttled.
This is because many bot accounts run follow-for-follow trains by tagging multiple accounts in a post / thread.
Avoid being pegged as one of them.
7. ONE-WORD REPLIES
“Lol.” “Yes.” “Same.” “👀” etc…
get picked up as low-effort, low-quality comments that bots or spammers use to gain impressions and exposure.
↳ Leave thoughtful replies. It builds your account rep. Read this: Magnetic Replies
8. BEING TOXIC
The algorithm has a HIGH TOXICITY flag. If your tone is aggressive/hostile, use a curse words or all caps sentences that make it seem like YOU’RE YELLING too often, you will be penalized
↳ You can be bold. You can be real. You can voice your disagreements. But don’t be hateful.
9. BAD FOLLOWER-FOLLOWING RATIO
The amount of people you follow impacts your reputation.
↳ Ideal: follow ~60% of the number of followers you have
(e.g. 1,000 followers = ~600 following) Fix it now:
10. KEEP YOUR PROFILE PRIMED
When people go to your profile and don’t follow you, everything you do is a waste. So make sure you have a profile that converts strangers into followers.
